Tomkin, the bookish second son of the Duke of Marshwell, lives in his heroic brother’s shadow, and dreams of being a hero himself.
When the unlikely report comes of an actual dragon in the usually dull land of Marshwell, Tomkin doesn’t believe it.
But the dragon is very real.
And Tomkin is very unprepared to face it.
When Tomkin literally bumbles into the dragon and is taken captive by it, he’s tossed in a tower cell, landing on a rather cross, rather independent maiden who refuses to admit she may be in distress.

About the Author

What is Dragon Dispatch?
A monthly episode of a full length adventure novel delivered to your mailbox in the form of a bound, full color book, complete with author note and discussion questions.
Can you tell me more about the story?
A family-friendly story about a young man named Tomkin who is bookish and clever, but desperately wants to be heroic like his older brother.
When reports that an actual dragon was seen in a nearby ruined castle come to Tomkin while his father and brother are off being heroic in a battle, Tomkin himself must go check it out.
Despite the fact that he doesn’t believe the dragon is real, Tomkin stumbles into a very dragon-y, very daunting situation — and finds himself taken captive by the cunning, fearsome dragon he was supposed to chase off.
When Tomkin meets Mags, the self-assured, resolute maiden who’s also captured, he immediately sets out to free her.
Except Mags has plans of her own, and doesn’t need any rescuing. In fact, in Mags’ opinion, she’s not in any distress at all. This is exactly where she wants to be.
Tomkin needs to find a way to convince her she’s wrong, rescue them both, and warn the rest of Marshwell that there’s a dragon on the loose.
